Overview

Analytic Accounts provide the foundation for job costing and project-based financial tracking in Odoo.

Purpose & Use Case

• Track costs by project or job
• Associate labor and expenses with specific work
• Measure profitability beyond the general ledger

Prerequisites

• Analytic Accounting enabled

How It Works in Odoo

Transactions can be tagged with analytic accounts, allowing costs and revenue to be reported separately from statutory accounting.

Configuration Notes

• One analytic account per project is a common practice
• Analytic tags can supplement, but not replace, analytic accounts

Common Issues

• Missing analytic assignments
• Inconsistent analytic usage

Limitations

Odoo does not enforce analytic assignment by default.
